The Economy Report, May 2021
The pandemic has resulted not only in suffering but also in hard-pressed health care workers, higher unemployment and poorer financial situation. Parts of welfare services have had to be postponed, needs have accumulated in health care, schooling, social care.
It has had unexpected effects, i.a. government stimulatory measures contributed to a strong level of net income 2020. In coming years we expect the level of net income to decrease.
Before the pandemic economic and demographic conditions were bleak. But there is a strong will for change through for example digitalisation and transitioning to Local Health Care. There is also a debate about centralisation and stronger central governance.
